Das Deutsche Reich verweigerte bis Kriegsende die Annahme von Kriegsgefangenenpost aus der Sowjetunion. Erst 1946 kam durch Vermittlung des Internationalen Roten Kreuzes eine Verbindung mit den Angehörigen zustande. Eine Hälfte der Karte konnte abgetrennt und als Antwort an eine Postfachadresse in der Sowjetunion zurückgeschickt werden. Der genaue Aufenthaltsort des Gefangenen blieb unerkannt.
